Cut the Rope asks you to guide candy into Om Nom’s mouth, but a successful route is often about what you leave attached. This browser guide separates finishing a puzzle from collecting its stars, then shows how to improve a solution one decision at a time.

Cut the Rope controls
Hold the left mouse button and swipe across a rope to cut it; click interactive elements. On a touchscreen, swipe to cut and tap the relevant object. The level’s tutorial introduces new mechanisms.
Read the puzzle before the first cut
The candy responds to gravity and the elements around it. Ropes hold or swing it; later puzzles introduce mechanisms such as bubbles and air cushions, alongside hazards. Reaching Om Nom completes the level. Stars create an additional route-planning challenge, so the simplest finish is not always the fullest solution.
Use a two-stage solution process
- Find a safe finish. Imagine the final approach into Om Nom’s mouth and work backwards to the rope or mechanism that can provide it.
- Add the star route. Ask which extra swing or detour reaches a missed star without ruining that final approach.
- Change one cut. On a retry, keep the successful parts and adjust only the action that failed.
- Observe the arc. The candy’s direction at release matters as well as its location.
A useful retry notebook
For a difficult puzzle, write a very short sequence such as ‘left rope, wait, lower rope’. After a miss, record whether the candy was too early, too late or moving in the wrong direction. This makes the next attempt a test rather than another guess. There is no need to memorise a walkthrough for a different edition with a different level order.
Keep browser and app expectations separate
The franchise includes several games and platform releases. This page covers the original title available through GamePix, not Cut the Rope 2, Time Travel or Remastered. Follow the available boxes in the linked player rather than assuming every mobile level appears in the browser edition. It is a good choice when you prefer a discrete puzzle to an endless score chase.
